Frans Haagen

studied carillon at the Carillon School in Amersfoort (The Netherlands ) with Bernard Winsemius and Arie Abbenes, earning cum laude the diploma of Performing artist. He is Municipal Carillonneur for Kampen, Almelo, Zutphen and Doesburg. He also served as director and professor of carillon at the Netherlands Carillon School, Utrechts Conservatorium, part of the HKU University of the Arts Utrecht. As a concert carillonneur he has performed at international Festivals worldwide. He played int he Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, France, Austria, Germany, Norway, Poland, United States of America, Canada and South Korea. At the conservatory of Zwolle he was awarded the Performing Artist’s Diploma of organ (summa cum laude). He studied also a major arts in piano, choral conducting, church music, improvisation and music educationing. Frans Haagen was prize winner in several international organ- and carillon competitions.
In addition to his special interest in the interpretation and performance of early music, he is also very interested in modern music. Various composers have dedicated new works to him, for both carillon solo and for carillon with electronics. He’s frequently invited as a jury member for examininations and for international organ and carillon competitions.
