Justin Bland

natural trumpet, has been applauded for his “dazzling virtuosity” (Grunion Gazette) and “immaculate intonation” (Boston Globe). As a highly sought-after solo/principal historical trumpeter deemed “most likely to win a gold medal, if music had Olympics” (Boston Globe), Dr. Bland has played with several leading North American early music ensembles. Now living in Copenhagen, Denmark, he continues performing as both a soloist and ensemble musician, combining North American engagements with exciting collaborations with leading Baroque ensembles throughout Europe.

Paweł Hulisz

trumpeter, arranger, composer, and Doctor of Musical Arts. He graduated from the Academies of Music in Gdańsk and Bydgoszcz. He is a permanent collaborator of the Musical Theatre in Gdynia. Since 2023, he has been leading the historical trumpet class at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk.
He performs Baroque and Classical music on historical instruments. He is the founder and artistic director of Tubicinatores Gedanenses, an ensemble continuing the historic Gdańsk tradition of tower music (Turmmusik). Thanks to the patronage of the Mayor of Gdańsk, the ensemble has so far released four original albums.
He is also the founder and organizer of the Turmmusik Festival, which has been held for ten editions to date.
He collaborates with Goldberg Baroque Ensemble, participating in recordings of music originating from seventeenth- and eighteenth-century Gdańsk. The ensemble has released fifteen albums, including a recording of works by Johann Daniel Puklitz, which received the Opus Klassik 2022 Award for Best World Premiere Recording.
In October 2023, together with the Tadeusz Baird Philharmonic in Zielona Góra under the baton of Piotr Mazurek, he gave the first-ever Polish performance of Joseph Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto in E-flat major, Hob. VIIe:1, on a keyed trumpet.
He specializes in the editing and reconstruction of seventeenth- and eighteenth-century musical prints preserved in the Library of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Gdańsk, the Hosianum Library in Olsztyn, and the Bishop Jan Bernard Szlaga Diocesan Library in Pelplin.
He founded Capella Warmiensis Restituta, an ensemble dedicated to the performance of restored musical works from Warmia. This initiative led to the Musica Warmiensis recording series released by DUX (Vol. I – 2021, Vol. II – 2022, Vol. III – 2023, Vol. IV – 2024).
He initiated the reconstruction of a trumpet made by Johann Wilhelm Stritzke, a trumpet maker active in Gdańsk between 1730 and 1739. The instrument was reconstructed by Graham Nicholson and is currently exhibited at the Museum of Gdańsk. In April 2025, continuing this project and using the reconstructed Gdańsk trumpet, he recorded the solo album The Art of Clarino – Clarino Playing in Eighteenth-Century Gdańsk. The recording was supported by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the Museum of Gdańsk, and was produced in the historic Great Hall of the Main Town Hall in Gdańsk.
In 2024, he founded the ensemble Fistulatores et Bucinatores Regis, dedicated to Renaissance music and performing, among other instruments, on the slide trumpet. The ensemble is particularly focused on rediscovering the Tabulature of Jan of Lublin, the most important surviving musical source from sixteenth-century Poland.
He is the composer of the fanfare performed since 2017 at the opening and closing ceremonies of St. Dominic’s Fair in Gdańsk, as well as a fanfare composed in 2020 for the Bydgoszcz Baroque Scene Festival.
His artistic achievements include approximately seventy commercial recordings as a session musician, chamber musician, and soloist.

Ostap Popovych

a graduate of the M. Lysenko Academy of Music in Lviv, where he studied under Igor Hyshka (2010) and the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, from which he graduated with a Master’s degree in 2014, having studied early music (natural trumpet) under Tomasz Ślusarczyk, MA.
He is the winner of numerous music awards in competitions such as: the GRAND PRIX at the ‘Kyiv-Vorzel’ International Wind Instrument Competition (2003), the GRAND PRIX at the 1st International Competition for Young Wind Instrument Performers in Chernivtsi (2004), the GRAND PRIX at the 3rd M. Starovetsky International Competition for Young Trumpet Players in Ternopil (2008), a commendation at the 6th International Brass Instrument Competition in Gdańsk (2012), Second Prize at the National Brass Instrument Competition in Katowice (2013), GRAND PRIX at the 9th International Wind Instrument Competition in Brno (2013).
He began his career with an orchestra in 2005 in his hometown of Lviv as a musician with the Lviv Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. In 2008, he undertook a six-month tour of China with the American Broadway-based SOMA Orchestra. In 2011, he began working as a member of the Sudeten Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra in Wałbrzych. From 2011 to 2013, he was a soloist with the Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra, and then, from 2013 to 2016, a soloist with the Poznań Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. In 2016, he began working as a soloist with the Symphony Orchestra of the Grand Theatre – National Opera, and since 2018 he has also been working as a soloist with the Warsaw Chamber Opera.

Filip Pysz

began studying the trumpet in Lublin in 2010. He later continued his education at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków, where, upon graduating, he was appointed as an Assistant Lecturer.
His principal area of interest is the Baroque music of the Moravian and English musical traditions. He currently serves as Principal Trumpet at the Lublin Philharmonic.
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with numerous orchestras and ensembles in Poland and abroad, including Sinfonietta Cracovia, the Polish Royal Opera, the Warsaw Chamber Opera, {oh!} Historical Orchestra, Altberg Ensemble, Diletto, Brandenburg Concerto Berlin, Musica Florea, Baroque Collegium 1685, Capella Cracoviensis, and many others.
He has participated in masterclasses led by renowned trumpet players such as Pierre Badel, Paul Archibald, Uwe Köller, Tamir Akta, and Vladimir Pushkarev. He has also given methodological workshops at various institutions throughout Poland and has served as a jury member at several competitions.
He has appeared regularly at festivals including the Starosądecki Early Music Festival, All’Improvviso, Organy+, the Music of the Polish Kings Festival, Baroque on the Spiš, the Baroque Festival of the Polish Royal Opera, and many others.
He is also a member of the Gdańsk tower trumpeters’ ensemble Tubicinatores Gedanenses, with whom he performs in concerts and recording projects.

Bo Håkanson

1970, is positioned in Malmö Symphony Orchestra as timpanist/percussionist since 1995.
As a soloist with orchestra he has performed Mark Anthony Turnages Double Percussion Concerto, Fractured Lines, featured on a tour in Sweden with Malmö SO together with Lennart Gruvstedt. 2008 he premiered HK Grubers percussion concerto Rough Music in Sweden, with the composer himself as conductor.
He has great interest in percussion ensemble and attended the International Percussion Competition Luxembourg 1992 and 1999, and was awarded first prize both times.
Bo is also an active teacher, responsible for Blekinge International Timpani Academy, where he, 2010-2012, collaborated with Wieland Welzel, solotimpanist in Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and 2014-15 with Nick Woud of the Royal Concertgebouw.
Bo has also held masterclasses at Trakai Fanfare Week in Lithuania 2009-2012 along with soloperformances and chamber music with Ciurlionis Quartet there.
For many years and hereafter, Bo has been involved in recordings in different music styles, and still performs often as baroque timpanist, percussionist and drummer in different settings around the area in Sweden and Denmark.

Monika Kaźmierczak

is a city carillonist of Gdańsk (Poland). She is a graduate of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk (Theory of Music, Church Music, Choir Conducting) and the Netherlands Carillon School in Amersfoort (studies with Arie Abbenes and Bernard Winsemius). During her studies, she received several scholarships. She teaches carillon and other subjects at the Music Academy in Gdansk. Monika is a laureate of several international carillon competitions and a finalist of the 2008 Queen Fabiola competition. As a performer, she is internationally in demand, playing concerts across Lithuania, the Netherlands, Belgium, USA, Spain, Czech, France, Denmark, Portugal, Norway and Ireland. She collaborates on creative projects such as performing solo recitals for the acclaimed early music festival Actus Humanus in Gdańsk, premiering and recording pieces by leading Polish composers for Polish Music Editions, and performing regularly with tower trumpeters and top Gdańsk jazz players.
Monika is the founder and director of ongoing musical initiatives such as the Gdańsk Carillon Festival. Since 2012, Monika has held a doctor of arts degree, specialising in carillon playing. She is also active in Polish Carillon Society. In 2021, Monika was awarded the highest cultural prize in her city: Splendor Gedanensis and received the bronze medal for merit to culture – Gloria Artis. In 2022 and 2025 her solo albums with new music for solo carillon, Contemporary Carillon, released by Polish Music Editions (Anaklasis series), were nominated for the most prestigious musical award in Poland – the Fryderyk Award. On her initiative, four publications featuring carillon music have been released – Gdańsk Carillon Book (2019, 2023, 2025 and 2025).

Marek Kunicki

PhD (1980) – composer, music theorist, university professor – assistant professor in the Department of Music at Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa.
He graduated with degrees in music theory and composition from the G. and K. Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź, where he studied under Prof. Sławomir Kaczorowski. He honed his compositional skills through postgraduate studies in film music, computer music, and audiovisual art (G. and K. Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź, National Film, Television, and Theater School in Łódź) under the guidance of Maciej Zieliński, Krzesimir Dębski, Zygmunt Konieczny, and Krzysztof Knittel. He is a graduate of the Gregorian Chant Program (Fryderyk Chopin University of Music).
He is a prize winner at composition competitions in Poland and abroad: the 2nd International Composition Competition for Chamber Music Featuring the Accordion “Sanok 2005,” the “Srebrna Szybka” Composition Competition 2013, the International Amadeus Composition Award in Vienna 2023, the Berlioz International Music Competition (2024), the 4Seasons Vienna International Musician Competition 2025, and the “Muzyczne Orły” International Competition (multiple-time laureate as both a composer and publisher).
His body of work includes solo and chamber music, educational pieces, as well as orchestral and electronic works. In 2025, his composition “5652 EDITH” – a cantata for mezzo-soprano and orchestra featuring electronics and audiovisual elements – was premiered by the Częstochowa Philharmonic Orchestra.

Dariusz Przybylski

(born in 1984) is a composer as well as an organist. Przybylski has written numerous operatic, symphonic, chamber and vocal works, commissioned by Deutsche Oper Berlin, Ensemble Modern, Phoenix16 Vokalensemble Berlin—among many others institutions. Przybylski completed his composition studies under the supervision of Marcin Blazewicz in Warsaw, York Höller and Krzysztof Meyer in Cologne and Wolfgang Rihm in Karlsruhe. He is author of 7 operas, the latest “Anhelli” for Poznan Opera House (2019) and “Orphee” (2015) for Warsaw Chamber Opera House – both of them created with Latvian opera director Margo Zalite.
