TUBICINATORES GEDANENSES
(GDAŃSK TRUMPETERS)
is an ensamble consisting of musicians playing copies of historical instruments. The ensamble consists of four trumpeters: Paweł Hulisz, Piotr Kowalkowski, Emil Miszk and Filip Pysz, and the timpanist Paweł Szewczyk. For 8 years, the artists have been trying to reconstruct the old musical sound of Town by Motława, collaborating with municipal institutions such as the Baltic Sea Cultural Center, the Museum of Gdańsk, and the Gdańsk International Fair. Playing in the church and town hall towers, also accompanied by a carillon, they restore the beauty of Gdańsk tower music, the so-called Turmmusik, practiced in Gdańsk from the 15th century until the beginning of the 20th century. The musicians also refer to the centuries-old tradition of playing at the ceremonial opening and closing of the Dominican Fair. Paweł Hulisz composed a special bugle call for this occasion. In addition, in 2022 and 2023, the team prepared a historical version of the old Gdańsk tradition called Advent sounds from the towers (Adventsklänge aus den Türme). Gdańsk Trumeters have in their artistic output two albums with music performed from the towers of Gdańsk churches, as well as with original compositions for the set of historical trumpets. These are the only releases of this type on the Polish phonographic market, containing recordings for this characteristic, and at one time very popular, instrumental composition.
