VOCAL ENSEMBLE ART’N’VOICES
Art’n’Voices vocal ensemble from Poland was founded in 2010. It consists of musicians who for years have been associated with the choral stage of the Tricity and Wejherowo and the Academy of Music in Gdańsk. The ensemble’s official seat is the Museum of Kashubian-Pomeranian Literature and Music in Wejherowo.
The octet specialises in performing a cappella music. Its repertoire includes music of different periods from the Renaissance onwards; however, it is dominated by contemporary music compositions, a significant part of which has been written exclusively for the group.
Art’n’Voices has been awarded multiple times at national and international competitions. Its achievements include ten Grand Prix awards, including at the 11th International Choir Festival Mundus Cantat in Sopot (2015) or the National Contemporary Choral Music Festival Music Everywhere (Gdańsk 2014). The ensemble has been successful at two prestigious competitions within the
framework of the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing: Polifonico Guido di Arezzo in Italy (2017) and Tolosako Abesbatza Lehiaketa in Spain (2019), where it won two 1st place awards.
In 2021, the Polish Phonographic Academy awarded Art’n’Voices with the Frederic Award (also known as the Polish Grammy) for album Midnight Stories in the category: Album of the Year – Contemporary Music. Art’n’Voices is the first a cappella octet to receive this award. The Fryderyk (named after Frédéric Chopin) is the most prestigious award in the Polish Music Industry.
So far, Art’n’Voices has released three albums: The Way of the Cross. With Christ at the Wejherowo Calvary (2013), which included compositions by the ensemble’s leader, Anna Rocławska-Musiałczyk, Art’n’Voices Live in Provence (2019), a recording of one of the concerts during a tour which was a part of the Festival des Chœurs Lauréats in France, to which the best choirs and vocal
ensembles from around the world are invited. The last album by Art’n’Voices is called Midnight Stories. It’s critically acclaimed for its original compositions and precision in performance. Due to the large variety of texts used by individual artists, each of the twelve recorded compositions shows its own vision in which, in various shots, the motif of the coming of nightfall and everything related to it is presented.
Art’n’Voices is the organizer of the ArteFonie Festival, which takes place every September in Wejherowo.
Art’n’Voices successfully gives concerts throughout the country and Europe, performing at various festivals and on standalone concert tours.
