IRYNA RIABCHUN
Ph.D. in History of arts, associate professor, director of the Kyiv Children Academy of Arts, graduated from the Belgian Royal Carillon Schoo.
Iryna Riabchun was born in Kyiv (Ukraine). Graduated from the Lysenko State Music School, the National Academy of Music with Par exellance Diploma, PG and the Doctoral study courses. In 2013-2014, she studied carillon, harpsichord and church organ at the Saint Petersburg University. From 2014, Iryna studied Jef Denyn Royal Carillon School in the classes of Eddy Marien (carillon), Koen Cosaert (campanology) and Tom van Peer (improvisation). In 2018-2020, she followed the specialisation course in this school.
Iryna Riabchun is a pianist by her first specialty. She performed in Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Greece, Indonesia and India. Iryna has performed six solo piano programs with the works of Ukrainian composers in Paris and is a permanent member of the jury of the Paris Piano Competition „Resonances” (2013-2020).
In 1991-1997 she lived in Greece, and in 1999-2003 in India and Indonesia. During this time, Irina was active as a pianist and musicologist, recording for Greek State Radio (ERT), performing on the TV, playing more than 60 solo piano concerts.
Iryna Riabchun received her Ph.D. in History of arts (2006) with the subject of research “Cretan music tradition in the development of the Greek School of composition”. During her doctoral studies in the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine (2019 – 2012) she continued her research in the field of Greek music, which resulted in the book publication „Greek Piano Music of the Twentieth Century”. Thus, Irina Riabchun is now a leading researcher of Greek music in Ukraine.
Iryna is the first and so far the only Ukrainian carillonist who graduated from Jef Denyn Belgian Royal Carillon School. The topic of her diploma thesis was “Bells in Ukrainian history and culture”. She is an active promoter of carillon art in Ukraine and other countries.
Iryna Riabchun played solo carillon concerts in Belgium, Germany, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland and in Ukraine. She is one of the creators of active members of the Ukrainian International Hoshiv Carillon Festival. Performed as soloist-carillonist with Ukrainian State President Orchestra, Orchestra of Ivano-Frankivsk Opera Theatre, Ukrainian Classic-Premier Orchestra.
